Pixel placement & pizzas —
a James story:

Ever since I can remember I've always been concerned with the "experience"- digital, in person, in writing, whatever the case. "How would it feel for myself or someone else to move through this space?" is a question I continually ask myself. Curating playlists, thoughtful about fashion and "no big lights" on in my house to create the correct ambience and feeling. These are just some of the things I'm obsessed with, and I've been able to turn these personal annoyances quirks into a successful design career.

I began my journey as a designer many years ago, before the term "UX" was coined. Over time, I've had various roles where I focused more on strategy, while in other positions, I worked on creating dynamic design systems. I've also taken on roles where I've done all these tasks and had the responsibility of leading teams.

I've lived and worked in both Chicago and Milwaukee before my wife and I found our house in Northwest Indiana, and just welcomed our first child. This joyous picture was prior to owning a house and having a child, if you couldn't tell ;).

I've spent time both as an in-house product design lead, and with a few consultancies that have clients in various verticals.

Things I'm currently into

Just some current things that are occupying my mind when I'm not working.

"Start with Why" - Simon Sinek

I recently had some time and I wanted to improve an aspect of UX design that gets overlooked sometimes, which is the art of story telling and persuasion.

Music & TV

Changing with the seasons, we're into fall acoustic right now followed by "All I want for Christmas is you" on repeat. I'm also really waiting for the next season of Severance.

Excercise

Switching between the Peleton, outdoor runs and basement workouts. Trying to avoid the dad-bod, but like my stretchy jeans, it fits so well sometimes.

My name is James. I'm a Design Lead in Chicago currently at Sparq previously at Palantir, Acculynx, Genalpha & Zywave.

THANKS FOR VISITING THIS SITE, I CREATED IT FOR YOU.
